GUEST: So how come you pulled out of the Taylor fight? Let me guess -- it's because he's not the soft opposition you're used to fighting, right? Afraid to spoil your almost perfect record by fighting someone with a decent record?
Paul
Cleveland: Paul, you have been misinformed. It is impossible to "pull out" of a fight that was never made. I did not accept the offer to fight Taylor because they approached me with only seven days notice and I had just fought the week before and also sustained an elbow injury. If you closely followed our great sport of boxing, you would understand that after a fight, we increase our food intake and tend to get a little lazy as we recover. This is due to the intense preparation for the fight that includes training, dieting and conditioning. With an elbow fracture and the post-fight "down-time", I was not willing to do a crash diet and fight with an injury just for the money. It would have been foolish of me to accept such an offer.

That type of scheduling is how you build up a fighter's record because the opponent does not have enough time to adequately prepare for the bout. However, given appropriate advanced notice to allow equal training and preparation time, I would be all for it.

I'm guessing that you read about the "non-fight" on the FIGHTNEWS.COM website, which I myself am a big fan of. I recently did a phone interview with Flattop from FIGHTNEWS.COM about the brief Taylor negotiations. Again, let me explain this to you, a fighter cannot "pull out" of a fight that was never accepted.

Thanks for dropping by my website though,
Cleveland

GUEST: It's refreshing to see a boxer who respects the game and is willing to give back to the community. Keep up the great work. All of Idaho is in your corner.
Matt
Nampa, Idaho
Cleveland: Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. I love contributing to our community. It is an honor to fight here in my home state in front of my fans.

GUEST: Cleveland, It's good to see you accomplish so much with your career. I wish you many more good things to come. Congratulations on your "movie experience" as a stunt man. Good luck!
Allen S.
Cleveland: Allen, Thanks for visiting the website and for taking the time to send me some e-mail. Making the movie was alot of fun...I hope you enjoy watching it half as much as I did being part of it!

GUEST: Wow! I am truly impressed by your website and what you are doing with your life. I think every professional boxer should have a website so that people can get to know them better. Yours is not only up-to-date but also has relevent photos, shows your commitment to boxing, and devotion to your faith. It's nice to see a person of your integrity involved in boxing. Most people in this sport are good, decent, upright people but a considerable amount of attention is given to the few bad people (or focuses on a deed committed by a person who went astray). I admire your devotion to Faith. Did you know that boxing is mentioned twice in the Bible? I admire how you took the physical talents that the Lord gave you to fight and honed that skill inside the discipline of the boxing ring. The Bible also says "from strength comes forth sweetness" and it looks like you are a fine example of this, the sweetness coming forth in your love for God. Consider me a fan. Do you have an official fan club? Good luck to you, through your faith you are always a winner,
Neal H.
Cleveland: Thanks for your support and the kind words in your e-mail. I'm glad you like the website, we've been working very hard on it. I think its a great way to interact with people and I love getting e-mail. I would like to know where boxing is written about in the Bible. I would be very interested in those scriptures if you could send them to me. Sorry, I don't have an official fan club, but getting support from people like you is a strong motivation for me to continue working hard in the boxing ring. Between my faith in God and support from people like you, I hold strong to Philipians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
None of us are perfect, but as Christians we ARE forgiven!

GUEST: I was wondering, how do you prepare for a fight? Do you do alot of weight-training? What about skipping rope? Lastly, I want to know what types of stuff do you do to improve your speed and quickness?
Vijay S.
NC State University
Cleveland: I train very hard for my fights. Between jumping rope, wind sprints, bag work, and plyometrics it's not that hard to get in shape if you give your all. On the main page of my website, there is a link to my personal trainer (Darby Lewis at WERC). Thanks for the e-mail!
